Absolutely, Tom !  The canal is just at the bottom of the hill below  our 
house, in fact our land goes right down to it - have to do a bit of portage,  
though, as the canal's been broken in places although it's being restored at  
present and hopefully it will reconnect with the main Shropshire Union system in  
the fullness of time.
 
The other point being discussed earlier re alpine lights, is that they were  
originally perspex but became glass for the 56 & onwards models (source:  
Original Series 1). 
 
I also notice that the Stn Wagon rear doors are actually quite different  
from the side doors although the latter will fit (with adjustments !) - the  
bottom section of the side door is 3 or 4 ins shorter whilst the top part is  
shallower, but the overall height is the same.
