Hi!

Besides the 80' S1, I own a 1996 300tdi Range Rover Classic and a 2000 Td5
Discovery.

The Td5 engine, although not very reliable (too much electronics) in the
early models is now "fine tuned" and its very nice to drive. Sounds and
moves like a petrol engine. Very enjoyable.

The electronic throttle (and all the other electronic gizmos) requires some
habit to it.

Hi Matthew,

I have no experience of that engine at all, only what I have read in the
magazines. A general opinion seems to be that a late model 300TDI is worth
more than a newer TD5 though..... certainly in the second hand/used area
anyway.

I think Uli has one, he could probably fill you in better.

Cheers
