Hello. I am new to the mailing list and have just acquired a 1955 86" =
Series 1 (although the axle centers measure 84" ??). This joins my 1972 =
88" Series 111 and my 1969 109" Series 11A. I am located in New South =
Wales, Australia, and live on a small farm fattening Angus steers just =
outside of a town called Albury which is about halfway between Sydney =
and Melbourne.

An initial problem with my Series 1 restoration project, which members =
of the mailing list may have previously encountered, is the inability to =
select 3rd and 4th gears either with the engine stationary or running =
and double declutching. I have no difficulty selecting and moving =
between 1st and 2nd and reverse. I have removed the top plate on the =
gearbox and can see no obvious abnormality in the 3rd and 4th selector =
shaft and fork. Before I remove the gearbox and start probing deeper, I =
wonder if anyone more experienced has some ideas. Could this simply be =
a clutch adjustment problem?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be most welcome.

With thanks,

Murray Williams
