I would think your price theory would be correct although the only =
sideplate engine I have seen sold was at a farm clearance sale (lying in =
the grass) so only the group of Series 1 enthusiasts in the Disco (us) =
knew what it was.  Everyone else were WW2 military enthusiasts and =
farmers so we got the engine for minimal cost.  Had it been advertised =
as a 1948 Land Rover sideplate engine it would have attracted more S1 =
enthusiasts and a higher price.

The only other sideplate engines were in vehicles with their =
commensurate prices.

So what one would sell for is anyone's guess!
