I'll put my 5 cents worth in (as 1 & 2 cents are now out of circulation in 
New Zealand) The IOE head Part Number did change in 1950 when the seal (RP# 
233419) was fitted in the valve stem, from engine # 06106720 onwards. The 
head is the same but because the guide changed, then the head part number 
would have changed. In the 1955  6th edition, of the parts book (RP# 4056) 
both the early and later heads are shown as RP# 233430, but this number 
would have been issued in 1950, so there must be an earlier part number 
(217***) for the head with the earlier type valve guide without the seal 
groove. Is there someone out there with a very early parts book?? Leon
