    G'Day Bob,
    At some time during 1950, the rear body was changed in the area 
behind the seat back (made narrower at the top) to allow the seat backs 
to be moved further back. At the same time the shape of the seat backs 
was changed from the "spade" type to a rectangular shape with curved top 
edges and the means of attaching them was changed from the dinky little 
galvanised brackets to hinges at the bottom. The aim of the exercise was 
to gain a little more leg room. The load space was not reduced although 
the top of the rear body became a little more fragile if the spare was 
carried there frequently.
    To gain a better idea of what I am talking about you will have to 
look at the James Taylor book or a parts manual as these changes are  
illustrated there. A picture or two is definitely better than a long 
description.
