I've passed the "Mysterious Wooden Pick-Up" URL onto James Taylor. My guess
would be that it's a vehicle that lost much of its original body many years
ago, and something easier to cobble up locally was fitted to replace it.
That doesn't explain the steel body panels, though - although I have
evidence of one SXF that seems to have had a steel rear tub.

GRAEME ALDOUS

Steel bodies are not as unusual as You think
About 10 years ago I went to an auction selling, amongst other things a half
dozen series 2 109 pick ups with a lot of the body work in steel, namely the
rear tub and front wings.
They came from a CN rail yard. They had mounted in the back a huge Pto
driven vacuum cleaner to clean out cargo rail cars.
most of the body panels were pretty crude, some as thick as 1/8" probably
made by the fitters in the local work shop.
