Hi Bob,
shearing a shackle bolt requires quite a strong arm... or the bite of time
has done a good job!
I assume the bolt is still resting in the other shackle or have you removed
that one and have bolt solidly locked inside the chassis tube?
In any case heat is the tool to solve the problem. Best appraoch may be to
add drops with an electroce or mig welder to the ends of the bolt. This will
induce a lot of heat and eventually give you a new "head" to grip the bolt .
When hot, try to dislodge it with hammer blows. The effect of the heat is to
crack the binding of the iron oxide.

Betreff: SER1 shackle bolts 1951 80
Hi,
Down to the old chassis and the axels on our 80 rebuild.
Having trouble shifting the shackle bolts where they go through the chassis
itself.
Have shifted and removed the locking bolts, but the bolts themselves are
somewhat tight to say the least.
They refuse to budge.
One sheared, when we used a steel sleeve on the socket.
Left them soaking in oil for a couple of days.
Have any of you guys any advice on shifting these bolts.
Thanks
Bob
