    G'Day all,
    By way of a contrast, it is actually possible to arrange a safe trip 
in the same region and do it in old vehicles, despite the media's 
continual harping on the fact that the Land Rover (therefore I assume 
mostly to blame for the tragedy) was old. I have news for the media,the 
new ones do not go that well witout fuel etc. The event got graphic full 
page colour treatment in all the East Coast daily fish and chip wrappers.
    Have a look at this site, the West Australian Series One Group,

look up "CSR - Epedition" (CSR= Canning Stock Route). Not fuel 
quantities required to be carried and distances. Trip was successful, 
therefore no media coverage
