Dear Uli,

There may be an alternative (to the 2,25L engine or Allans suggestion to
rebuild your 2L). A month ago, heading for a rebuildable 1,6 or 2,0 L, I
visited van de Put in Belgium. He had several 2,0 L engines, at least one in
running condition (€ 500,=).

For rebuilding I bought an non running example for € 250,=, a full set
gaskets included.

  Hi list,

my siamese bore 2l petrol is not the best and when the engine will be dead
in the nearer future, I think about switching directly onto a 2,25l petrol
5er crankshaft.

Does this engine fit at the same chassis fixingpoints, does the engine fit
to my orginal gearbox or do I need another bellhousing or maybe a complete
other gearbox? If another bellhousing or complete gearbox, what´s about the
clutch pedal cross shaft ?

What´s about the hose from airfilter to carburetter?

  Exhaust manifold to first pipe?

  The starter?

  Rubberhoses to radiator?

Where is the begining of that action and where does it end?

I don´t live in UK, and it´s not so easy to have a look under the next
neighbour´s LandRover

  Thanks

  Uli
