Dear Mark,

I agree with Graeme that it will probably be an earth problem. Restoring my
Morris Minor I faced similar effects. On each lamp fitting I soldered an
additional earth wire on the other end either bolted to the chassis or
connected to an extra earth wire in the loom. Al mountings and connections
full in sour free grease (Vaseline) to prevent corrosion and it is working
error free for several years.

To prevent future damage: did you use rubber grommets each time the loom is
passing metal (chassis, bulkhead, e.g.)?

Rebuilding my 1950 80" I am still working on the mechanics, but refitting
the electrics I will precisely follow that procedure.

Hi Eveyone,
I have recently replaced the wiring loom in my 58 88" but seem to be having
teehing problems
i have checked and re checked the wiring is excatly how the book specifies.
so why is this happening!!!!!!!!????
1. the brake lights: the left brake light is brigher the the right and
when the pedal is applied the right one goes out???????strange.
2. the Cold start light no longer workers
3. Dash lights work when tested indvidualy, but when on the loom only 1 out
of the 3 works.
4. Left hand 'fairy'(side)works once in a while(i checked the conections and
they look fine)
5. Indicators (given up)now using hand signals.

Last weekend was quite sunny here in they UK , so i took the roof off the
old girl had a great week end. However silly me i left the roof off and it
rained monday day, when i returned from work to my suprise, the electrics
were on but everything was in the switched off postion.(the keys were in my
pocket)

so can anybody explain all of these to me.
cheers
Mark
