Hi Paul
I have a real problem with my computer today - I press reply and it =
sends without giving me time to write.
In regard to the Replica/Restoration debate - many places outside the =
U.K., particularly Australia, do not accept that a chassis can be =
replaced. The identity of the vehicle is the number stamped into the =
vehicle (in the case of a Land Rover the chassis) not a number stamped =
into any sort of aluminium or brass plate affixed somewhere. So we find =
the issue of replacement chassis' a fascinating activity.=20
In the garage there is an axe - it belonged to my grandfather - over the =
years it has had 3 new handles and 1 new head. Is it still my =
Grandfather's axe?

This is a bit of a hot potatoe in the UK magazines (after a write up on =
860002)
I would have to go for a replica!!! I wonder what chassis number/reg he =
used ???
Still a noble cause, the more vehicles on the road the better in my =
books!!

If Keith Wadsworth built an entire car apart from its transmission. Is =
it a
restoration or a replica?
Just wondering?
I have some Wadsworth panels myself.

Hi Martin,
..and welcome to the list. I! ts funny you should mention Keith =
Wadsworth, (
www.wadsworthpanels.co.uk ) as I was only talking about Keith and his =
Series
One in a pub this afternoon! We were discussing the fact that he built =
the
whole thing himself, panels, chassis, bulkhead etc - apart from =
transmission
and engine of course. I take it you went to visit his workshop? I only =
live
a few miles away on the other side of the valley. Another 'famous' =
Land
Rover restorer you may have heard of - Ken Wheelright lives in this =
area as
well...its a pity its just me letting the side down with the quality =
of
restorations!
Cheers
Mark
