To be truthful, I believe that there is a process where a replacement =
and unstamped chassis can be stamped with the original VIN in Oz. It =
requires the replacement chassis and original chassis to be presented to =
the Police Forensic Vehicle Identification Branch ("Police Forensic" is =
that an oxymoron?) where they ascertain that it is the original chassis =
with number and then the number can be stamped into the replacement and =
then the original chassis is rendered unusable.

But it can only happen with a new replacement, unstamped chassis. It's =
a lot of hassle and I know of no one who has done it.

The cost of transporting a chassis all the way form the UK to Oz would =
be prohibitive unless it was a vehicle of historic significance.=20

Cheers
Diana
