I have a friend who used to work for the British Antarctic Survey. When he
was there they used to get exchange visits from the Russians.

The Russian helicopters were much admired for their oil burning stove in the
passenger cabin. Apparently it had clips and handles so it could be thrown
out of the door as a fire precaution if the helicopter looked like crashing!

A small wood burning stove in the bed would be a nice period feature ;-)
