We had a Boxer truck which we fitted a similar system to that suggested by
Nick, but I was unaware of any units small enough for the Land Rover. The
system worked fine and made the truck driveable but we did need to keep
replacing drive belts.
The Chris Perfect option will cost you about $AU 1,950.00, + freight which
will be several hundred more. Then you will have to make alternative
brackets to mount the pump to your Holden 179 motor as I can't remember any
of the 1966 HD models having power steering. The other alternative is that
you may be able to use Holden power steering pump from a 1970's HQ202 or
later motor .
You should ask if they can send the kit without the pump, it will cost less
in freight and then use a standard Holden pump and fittings.
Cheers
Diana
