    G'Day Hennie,
Except for very early 80" differentials, the ratios for Series I, II
and III are the same at 4.7:1 and they are interchangeable.
Interestingly, Range Rover diff centres are also interchangeable and
give a higher ratio, as do Rover 90 car diffs.
Rear axles were semi floating until the introduction of Series II
models. From then on they are fully floating. the Series III axles have
a finer spline at the outer end, hence the driving member is also
different to early front axle driving members. With the introduction of
fully floating axles, front and rear hubs are the same.
Series II models also feature a 2" wider track, hence axles are 1"
longer.
Front hubs are interchangeable with all models except that the
thread on the wheel studs changes at some stage (Series III I think).
This is all generally speaking, there are differences such as
Salisbury rear diffs in LWB Series III etc. etc.
    Cheers
