The 2L Diesel is actually the forerunner to the 2.25 Petrol and all the
4 cylinder LR engines thereafter. Size wise it is the same as the 2.25
engines: a 2.25 diesel head can readily be used on the 2L block. Since
Land Rover moved to the 88" chassis to accommodate the 2L diesel, it
stands to reason that later 4 cylinder engines will drop right in and
should fit on the standard engine mounts. The only reason for moving
the engine mounts etc would be to accommodate a non Series transmission.
