Good evening everyone
Has anyone ever worked out how to use a Lucas Semaphore switch for Land =
Rover indicators?
looking from the operational position (imagining the terminals at the =
back).
The switch is basically a big round dome (fits on that funny bracket on =
the 80" windscreen) at the bottom there is a tag sticking out which is =
the switch lever. In the centre of the switch there is an indicator =
bulb (globe) which has a centre terminal contact and a spring making =
earth contact with the screw of the bulb.
The terminal conectors: At the top left is the brass contact for the =
bulb, adjacent to this "right" is a terminal (I assume to be number 1) =
which has electrical connection to the bulb contact.
On the left at 8:00 o'clock is a terminal numbered 2 which has =
electrical connection to the ground of the bulb. (not the ground of the =
vehicle)
On the left at 7:00 o'clock is a terminal numbered 3
On the right at 5:00 o'clock is a terminal numbered 4
On the right at 4:00 o'clock is a terminal numbered 5 which has a brass =
bridge to terminal 1
When the switch is at the 6:00 o'clock position - the following is true: =
Terminal 1=3D5
=
Terminal 2=3Dbulb/ground
=
Terminal 3=3D4
When the switch is at 4:30 o'clock (right turn) - the following is True: =
Terminal 1=3D5=3D4=3D3
=
Terminal 2=3Dbulb/ground
When the switch is at 7:30 o'clock (left turn) - the following is True: =
Terminal 1=3D5
=
Terminal 2=3D3=3D4=3Dbulb/ground
I know I can use: terminals 3 or 4 for the "L" connection on the flasher =
unit=20
Then use: Terminal 2 for the left hand side light circuit
Terminal 5 for the right hand side light circuit
But: this won't allow me full use of the indicator bulb in the switch.
(I could remove the 1=3D5 terminal bridge and vehicle ground terminal 1, =
which would give me turn indication on left turn but not on right turn =
(and I am in Australia where we think it is important to be turning =
right, just think we re-elected a right wing government just like the US =
).)
Any ideas on this one?
Diana
