    Hi Diana,
    What you are interpreting from the illustrations is correct. For the 
1951 models the lead for the wiper motor was indeed plugged in to a 
banana type plug (a red one the same as the red and black pair on the 
instrument panel) in the middle of the galvanised bracket that supports 
the steering column.
    Incidentially, the flexible conduit used for the earlier type 
routing is still readliy available from electrical wholesalers, and in 
stainless.
