    It is right hand threaded, and strangely enough the thread is not 
BSF, it is 9/16" (from memory) UNF!!!, not that that helps you to undo 
it. Have you taken the suggested steps to prevent the crankshaft from 
turning? If you have and there has been no result, use a bigger hammer 
on your spanner. These bolt are frequently very tight.
