I need to work out how to affix a felling axe, a hedge-knife (like a
long-handled machette), a pair of loppers, and a bow-saw into the hybrid
(because I keep taking them with me)  -----------------------------

You could use a set of Aussie Army Land-Rover recovery tool fittings. See

If your serious about difficult (no pun intended) off road a diff guard can
prevent the front of the diff from impacting the crown wheel.  Although I
have never needed it myself I do have one on my Rangie and I'm glad it is
there.  A number of years ago I loaned the Rangie to the president of our 4
X 4 club so the club could take a group of disabled kids away on a four
wheel drive weekend trip while I was working.  ( He drove a Suzuki no top
with only 1 seat).  I don't know what he did but it involved putting a
significant dent in the diff guard.  I am only glad that that it was there
because it would have cost me a diff otherwise.   The diff guard was made by
