I used Mastic rubberised sealant on my Range Rover panels and it works =
great, it's back to the sound levels when it was new. The most =
important thing is that the panels still come off easily, then you =
scrape off the Mastic and reapply when you re-fit the panel. Mastic =
comes in tubes from the builders suppler.
If the rest of the floor is O.K. you could have the aluminium re welded =
and ground/sanded back. There must be an aluminium fabricator in the =
Central Coast! I had big problems with my grille panel which is a =
lighter gauge sheet (more difficult to repair) and the finished job is =
great. =20
Otherwise if you can't find a panel try Land Vehicle Spares at =
Silverdale (http://www.landvehiclespares.com/ ) or Hilton Pollard in =
Colo Heights, his son Justin has some 80"s and may have a floor but =
expect a delay Justin has just moved to Oberon.

Uli,
I'm in the process of pulling apart a 1951 S1.
With regards to the floor pans, mine were bolted straight onto the =
support beams and brackets. No sign of glue of rubber used at all.
With regards to the driver floor pan, whoever owned it before me, due to =
the clutch and brake pedal come through the pan, had a problem with =
removing it, so they cut a large chunk (looks like they used an angle =
grinder) out the pan around the pedal holes and also the opening to the =
4WD lever so they could take it out. When they put it back in, they =
didn't bother bolting it back down.
When it's time to re-build, I'm going to put the pans back in is. If it =
becomes to noisy, then I might try a thin rubber membrane.
PS> does anyone have a spare driver side floor pan that I can grab???
