Alan,

I think you are being a bit pessimistic in excluding the engine starter
spray. If the engine will turn without making nasty noises (on the starting
handle first and then the starter) then the likely causes of problems are
poor compression, poor ignition or a faulty carb. Engine start will get
round most of these and then once the engine is spinning faster they are of
less significance and the engine will often stay running. 

Ulrico is not going to use it for long enough for the engine to become
addicted to it as some old diesels become!
