Hi Brett

I had a similar problem with my 86". I cleaned the carb and the fuel
pump although they were clean. Electrics were fine. The blockage was
where the fuel line from the tank enters the top of the fuel filter
fixed to the side of the engine with the glass globe beneath it. When I
took off the fuel inlet connection, there were two small holes to allow
fuel into the glass globe. Or rather there should have been two holes.
They were completely blocked. There was a small amount of fuel getting
through. When I turned on the ignition, the float chamber was filling
with fuel, but as I was driving there was not enough fuel getting
through so I could do about 2 miles before the engine would begin to
starve as you say.

Should be easy to check whether this is the problem. Mine was blocked
with fine powder.

Hope this helps

Spooky
