Allan, that is exactly what I intend to do. If all this does not lead to the
desired result I will  skip the starting and do a total rebuild.

    G'Day Nick,
    As an asside, the most popular brand of engine starter spray here is
"Start You Bastard".
    Ulrico,I would be a bit reluctant to use any brand of  engine start on
your engine. If it won't go after all of the obvious steps and following
Nick's advice, I would leave it because there will be something else wrong
and engine start may well do more damage in that case. As you obviously
intend doing major work there is no point doing more damage. Good luck with
your restoration, keep us posted on progress.
    PS. R862779 is running great and the aviation tank sealer worked a treat
and found the pin hole wherever it might have been. Mind you, for A$160 a
pint it would want to.
