Hi Guys

Who is this Tom Taylor fellow? Is he James' brother? Does he also =
write untruths about early Land Rovers?

Have said it before, James Taylor says that ALL the later 80" were =
British Army, bronze green while my 51 was a sand colour. What is more =
everyone who sees the original tub with the layers of paint stripped off =
agrees with me.

So I say phooey to James Taylor, though font of knowledge he seems to =
be, restore your vehicle the way you want! Even the Land Rover =
advertising used to say there are so many options "no two Land Rovers =
sold have to be the same".

Cheers
Diana

P.S. Bob we have noticed your 80" sans Lucas PLC and all!

Ya know, I agree with you 100 percent. My 51 was a gutted hulk when I =
got it, I wouldn't even try to locate a 1600 engine for my 51 here in =
the US let alone porcupine tail lights. So mine has a 4 cylinder Chev =
153 engine with 1970-88 tranny and axle assemblies. By doing it that =
way, parts are readily available and reliable. It drives great and =
handles fine. Oh, and the tail lights are round black generic from the =
autoparts store. Financial and logistical all the way!
The only things I would change is one wiper motor to original and add =
some leg room. :-) I am 6-2 and luckily It has a smaller steering wheel =
with a tilt column.
