Hi Will,

what you need is the Lucas 488 side flasher lamps. These appear identical to
the Lucas 489 but use a dual filament bulb - one for the side marker lamp
circuit the other for the turn signal. This set up was standard on the NADA
market Land Rovers, but may not have been used in the UK (I think
trafficators would have been emlpoyed instead?)

Tom is right - Edward Atherton cobbled together a kit to retrofit UK
vehicles to the NADA spec.

I have pasted Edward's addie from the Parts For Sale section of the Garage:

"I have bought some units that allow you to use the side/brake lights as
indicators - as fitted to NAS spec Series One's and station wagons.
Due to the lack of a dual-filament light unit being available for
bulkhead-mounted sidelights on earlier 80's, the system will only work at
the back end though (maybe temporarily mount little indicators on swingin
brackets at the front...).
If you want more details, then email me at edwardatherton@xxxxxxx.xxx or
ring me on my mobile at any time - (07789)514847.
Unlike other methods, this system uses all the existing wiring, switch, etc.
It will also be cheaper than any other method I have found out about, and
allows you to keep a trailer socket correctly wired to work with separate
yellow flashers."

Bye

Jeremy
