This is essentially what I am going to do on my 1951 NADA S1 80.  I will add onto the wiring harness a provision for hooking up a Lucas DB10 8-way relay unit plus a flasher unit.  I will be using a manual switch such as used for trafficators installed on the round mount welded on the windscreen frame. I will be glad to post the details when I am done. It should be a very clean installation, but the downside is that the DB10 unit costs 145 USD.
