I feel it would be worthwhile if you could elaborate a bit on what you
think _is_ appropriate. More to the point, it would probably dispell a
lot of the difference between peoples' expectations and your plans, if
you could issue a short statement explaining how you work, to what end,
and what we as developer community around CDBI can and cannot expect.

I think these are such important points, that they deserve to be in a
"public statement", instead of buried in this huge thread. I'm not
suggesting a big manifesto of course, but something visible and
prominent from you as maintainer would definitely carry weight. And it
would give you the lead again, instead of having to fend off attacks
and demands left and right ;^) (although I feel you're beginning to
enjoy this battle.)

For what it's worth, my company (and me personally) are best served
with a stable and reliable version of CDBI, which 0.96 has proven to
be for quite some time now. We don't need the latest and greatest in
production work, neither for our clients nor for our own projects.
Whenever a new release hits CPAN of any major part of our codebase,
I prefer to play with it a while before it actually becomes part of
our products. In that regard, your release pace suits us perfectly.
CPAN and Debian's package archives help us minimizing the admin side
of it.

As an uplifting aside, one of our clients is Spirit of America, a non-
profit organisation which helps the people in Iraq getting their lives
back together again through various projects. Their website[1] has a
central role in this effort, and CDBI is a very important component in
it. So your work indirectly supports the people of Iraq regain their
freedom :-)

That's all I want to contribute to this thread.
