Let's just get the rest of this part of the thread out of the way first:

"I didn't say you said it was"

etc... :)

This discussion is about exploring these issues. You've said you don't
have the answers. I certainly don't. I think they're worth exploring, but
I hope we can do that in a way that people don't need to get defensive.
("I'm not getting defensive!", "I didn't say you were!", etc...)

I don't really buy this though. You can't really get a replacement for Matt's
guestbook on CPAN. Not in the way those users want. If anything I think
most of this audience has moved to PHP, rather than CPAN.

Interesting answer. I'll need to think about this a bit more.

I don't think I'd mark (m)any of my modules like this though. I'm
certainly interested in actual bug reports. One issue for me though
is the number of feature requests which masquerade as bug reports.

I was merely citing this as a potentially interesting historical
artifact of how CPAN seems to have once been viewed :)
